Foreign qualifications and a pause — restarting work after relocating to Germany

Relocation often creates a professional break even when you never intended one: waiting on Anerkennung, language courses, housing, or partner visas. By the time documents arrive, your last role can feel distant and your CV bilingual in an unhelpful way.

Separate recognition from employability

Some roles legally require recognition; many adjacent roles do not. While papers are pending, identify positions that value your experience without the regulated title — and keep a parallel track for the regulated path so you are not idle for a year.

Translate achievements, not only job titles

German readers skim for scope: team size, budget, tools, and outcomes. A literal title translation without context can undersell you. Rebuild two or three bullet points per role in the style local employers expect, then decide whether German or English materials fit the vacancy.

Explain the pause in one line

“Relocation to Germany and recognition process, 2024–2025” is clearer than leaving a gap. Add language level (e.g. B2) only when it is accurate and relevant to the posting.

Clients in this situation often combine an Application Package Review with interview practice once invitations start. Münster-based sessions and video appointments are both available through our contact form.
